Saskatchewan is spending $31 million over three years to install more safety equipment and provide training for health workers and professionals.

A Tour Through the “Telehealth Exam Room”

Consider your current practice. You may have a series of exam rooms that your staff directs patients in and out of as you see them. Now consider seeing these same patients using Telehealth Saskatchewan...

You walk over to your local Telehealth Saskatchewan site. Your colleague sees you in the hall and expresses her enthusiasm in attending your upcoming presentation on a new area of your specialty next week - which you will be sharing with health care providers in 18 Telehealth Saskatchewan locations!

Upon reaching the Telehealth Suite, you are greeted by the Telehealth Coordinator who already has the Telehealth unit turned on and connected to the first site of the day, a community in Northern Saskatchewan.

After brief introductions at each end, you begin the appointment just as you would if the person was in front of you. A health care provider at the patient's side follows your directions as they operate the special patient exam camera so you can get a close look at the area being treated. As you discuss what needs to happen next with the patient you write out a lab requisition, which you fax to the remote Telehealth suite. You smile and bid farewell, and with a click of a button connect to your next patient.
