Saskatchewan Surgical Initiative - photo of patient being wheeled to surgery

Saskatchewan's new online Specialist Directory currently lists only the province's surgical specialists. Other specialists will be added in the future. Use this directory to find:

  • practising surgeons
  • procedures they perform
  • how long you might wait to see a specialist
  • how long you might wait to have surgery
  • This resource shows your options, and which specialists have the shortest waiting times. Your family doctor can use the information, and their knowledge of the health system, to help you find a specialist who can assess your condition and provide surgery if necessary. All visits to a specialist require a referral from a doctor. If you don't have a family doctor, a doctor at a walk-in clinic can make a referral.

The Specialist Directory was provided to all Saskatchewan family physicians in 2009 and is now available to the public so that patients can discuss surgical options with their doctors. The Directory is an initiative of the provincial Senior Medical Officers Committee, and a part of the Saskatchewan Surgical Initiative. For more information, see Related Links below.
