PACT - Partnership to Assist with Cessation of Tobacco

PACT Logo - Click to visit the website

PACT and its subsidiary program TAR (Tobacco Addiction Recovery) are tobacco cessation programs available in Saskatchewan.

PACT training provides the teaching, tools and resources for participants to provide stage-appropriate tobacco cessation advice and counselling. PACT contains all the foundational pieces of a tobacco cessation program: the 5 A's, Stages of Change, Conviction and Confidence Scales, stage appropriate counselling, advice about pharmacotherapy and follow-up to increase success.

PACT training participants are encouraged to develop and implement a tobacco cessation program that meets the needs of the people it serves.

TAR, developed for use in Aboriginal communities, stresses the importance of sacred tobacco use while providing culturally sensitive strategies for those wanting to release their addiction to tobacco.

Visit www.makeapact.ca for more information about these programs, to access a list of PACT providers or to find out how to become trained through PACT.
