Saskatoon Board Member BiographiesDarlene Eberle, ChairpersonDarlene Eberle was appointed Chairperson of the Saskatoon Regional Health Authority (SRHA) in February 2005, previously having served as Vice Chairperson of the authority since its inception in August 2002. She has been on the SAHO board since 2003, most recently being chair of the Audit and Finance Committee. Darlene lives in Humboldt and was chairperson of the former Central Plains Health District Board for four years. She has served as President of the Humboldt Chamber of Commerce. Darlene received her Diploma in Registered Nursing in 1970 and served as a General Duty RN at University Hospital and Melfort Union Hospital. She and her husband Dave own and operate the Humboldt Dairy Queen. They have three grown children and are also proud grandparents. Darlene has volunteered with the Melfort Kinettes, Melfort and Humboldt Figure Skating Clubs, Girl Guides, Humboldt Economic Development Board and the Humboldt Tourism Board. Carol Teichrob, Vice-ChairpersonCarol Teichrob has been a member of SRHA since its inception in August 2002 and in February 2005 was appointed Vice Chairperson. Carol Teichrob has been a partner in a mixed farming operation outside Saskatoon for 35 years. She served for 10 years as the Councillor and Reeve of the RM of Corman Park and eight years as a Member of the Legislative Assembly. She is a past director of the Farm Credit Corporation, the Canadian Federation of Agriculture and the Saskatchewan Research Council, and a past member of the University of Saskatchewan Senate and Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce. Carol and her husband Donald have three children, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In 1982, Carol was awarded the YWCA Woman of the Year award in the Business category and in 1990 received the Golden Wheel award for Industry and Commerce from the Rotary Club. Audrey AhenakewAudrey Ahenakew is a member of the Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation. She has recently retired as the Saskatchewan Regional Manager for Canadian Executive Service Organization (CESO) Aboriginal Services. Audrey began her career with the Royal Bank of Canada in Saskatoon as a customer service representative and over the course of her career reached the position of Assistant Manager, Aboriginal Banking, Canada. Audrey has served on the National Aboriginal Task Force for Human Resources Development Canada and the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business. She has initiated and promoted a successful national native “stay in school” program and a national native student award program. Kelly BlockKelly Block has been involved in health care for more than twenty-five years. She began her career as a frontline worker and Supervisor in Support Services in a long-term care facility in Saskatoon and went on to serve on the board. Kelly has also served as a board member for a number of organizations including the former Gabriel Springs District Health Board, SAHO Board of Directors and the SHIN Board of Directors. Kelly lives in Saskatoon with her husband and four children. She is currently serving in her second term as a member of the SRHA. Doug FinnieIn 2005 Doug Finnie retired from a lengthy career in financial services with Royal Bank of Canada and Canadian Western Bank. He has been a regional health authority member since 2005. He is a member of the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency Board as well as the Saskatchewan Association of Health Organizations. From 1991 to 1993 he served as Chairperson of St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation and from 1992 to 1998 was a member of the Board of Directors of St. Paul’s Hospital. Doug has served on many organization boards including Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce, University of Saskatchewan Senate and Saskatoon United Way. Doug’s diverse work experience includes financial, human resources, sales and systems management in Montreal, Winnipeg, New York, Regina, Saskatoon and Toronto. He is a graduate of McGill University (MBA) and University of Manitoba (B. Comm.). Doug and his wife Jane have three children and four grandchildren. Marjory GammelMarjory Gammel was born and raised in Saskatchewan. She received her training as a Registered Nurse at the Regina Grey Nuns Hospital, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Diploma in Hospital and Health Care from the University of Saskatchewan. For the past 16 years she has been a researcher and consultant for nursing information systems. This work took her across Canada and to the Caribbean with the World Health Organization. Marjory retired at the end of 2000 and now volunteers her time with health-related boards, Wanuskewin Heritage Park and Read Saskatoon. In 2005 she was the recipient of a Saskatchewan Centennial Medal. She and her husband enjoy traveling and have visited many parts of the world. Archie LaRocqueArchie La Rocque lives in Saskatoon and retired two years ago from the position of Coordinator of Aboriginal Policy with the Saskatchewan Department of Community Resources and Employment (Social Services). He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Saskatchewan and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Toronto. During his career in the public service he has had experience in the areas of programs for children with developmental disabilities; child and family services; community control of family services programs; community development; and employment diversity. Archie has three adult children and he and his wife, Arlene, enjoy world traveling and following the fortunes of the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Paul MeinemaPaul Meinema of Saskatoon is a member of the Saskatoon Regional Health Authority. Mr. Meinema is also the President of the United Food & Commercial Workers International Union, Local 1400. Local 1400 represents over 5,500 members consisting of a staff of 13 with offices in both Saskatoon and Regina. Mr. Meinema’s board experience includes being a member, trustee, vice-president and chairperson. He is also very involved in community and volunteer activities such as the United Way of Saskatoon. Karen RaycroftKaren Raycroft lives in Wynyard and was a member of the former Living Sky Health District Board. She graduated from the University of Saskatchewan School of Nursing in 1964 and worked as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Manager until her retirement in 1995. Karen has volunteered with the Wynyard Health Care Auxiliary, Wynyard United Church and the Wynyard Amateur Theatre Group. Karen and her husband Terry have two children and six grandchildren. Keith ThomsonKeith Thomson is a partner with Thomson Jaspar & Associates, Chartered Accountants in Saskatoon. From 1984 to 1991 he served as Chairperson of St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation Inc. and from 1993 to 2002 was a member of the Board of Directors of St. Paul’s Hospital, most recently serving as Chairperson. Keith has served on numerous boards for various community organizations and in February of 2002 was awarded the Distinguished Community Service Award by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Saskatchewan. Keith and his wife Jeanette have two children. Steven TokarskiSteven Tokarski is a farmer from the Watson area. He is a former administrator for the Saskatchewan Mining Development Corporation. He is a former chair of the Watson School Board and was a former councillor of the municipality of Spalding. He is married to Debra and has a son Paul and a daughter Taya. Steven has been involved with health care since 1993. |
