Policy and Procedures Document Library RHA SCA Representative Workforce Funding Parameters GuidelinesOne of the key elements of The Action Plan for Saskatchewan Health Care in the area of retaining, recruiting and training health providers was the development of a representative workforce. The Plan made an initial investment of $3 million to implement specific initiatives, one of which was a commitment to invest in cultural awareness training to encourage a supportive and welcoming workplace environment. Regional Health Authorities and Saskatchewan Cancer Agency continue to work toward the goal of a representative workforce. A major component of this work is providing cultural awareness training to all employees. Saskatchewan Association of Health Organizations (SAHO) has been the lead in the development of Aboriginal Awareness training as part of the Representative Workforce Strategy for the health system. Saskatchewan Health, First Nations Metis Relations (FNMR), SAHO and Saskatchewan Learning, through the Representative Workforce Steering Committee, have provided guidance to the overall direction of the Aboriginal Employment Development Plan. |
