Public Health Nursing

Saskatchewan Health leads development and implementation of province-wide policies and guidelines and supports public health nursing programs delivered by health regions by facilitating program reviews, providing program advice, and maintaining and developing print materials used by the regions. Health regions are involved in services related to:

  • reproductive health
  • newborns
  • pre-school-aged children
  • communicable disease control
  • immunization
  • school health
  • breast-feeding
  • parenting
  • injury prevention
  • sexual health

The branch may be involved in any of these areas if there is a need to co-ordinate activities province-wide or if other departments and agencies request ministry participation.

Saskatchewan Health also responds to requests from health regions and other agencies for workshops or discussions on broad public health nursing and population health issues.

For more information, contact the managers of public health nursing in your local health region or Saskatchewan Health.
