The Saskatchewan Cancer Agency now covers Avastin treatments for patients with advanced colorectal cancer who meet the treatment criteria.

The branch provides research, analysis and direction on policy issues that affect the delivery of health services in Saskatchewan.

Staff seek partnerships and input from a wide variety of sources to develop public policy. They also advise officials from Saskatchewan Health, other government departments, health regions, First Nations and Metis organizations, other services organizations, community groups and members of the public on various health-related matters.

The branch also:

  • coordinates Saskatchewan Health research funding to support external health research in Saskatchewan
  • coordinates all information requests made to Saskatchewan Health by any person who applies for access to records held by government institutions under The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
  • coordinates the preparation of health legislation and associated regulations
  • is responsible for the development of the strategic plan for Saskatchewan Health which includes both the Ministry and the broader health sector
  • coordinates the intergovernmental activity of the Ministry and provides advice to the Ministers and senior officials as required.
