The key roles of the Branch are:
- to support and facilitate the process of implementing Saskatchewan’s Action Plan for Primary Health Care;
- to develop the policy framework for Regional Health Authorities (RHAs) to plan and organize their primary health care service delivery within regions;
- and to develop a strategy to control diabetes across the province.
The Branch provides the following services to improve primary health care within the province:
- to develop guidelines and facilitate RHA planning for primary health care;
- to provide consulting services to RHAs in setting up networks of interdisciplinary teams of primary health care providers;
- to monitor the progress of primary health care provincially;
- to develop and advance technology systems for tracking and managing diabetes; and
- to engage in research, service standard development and evaluation of primary health care.
