Saskatchewan! Healthy people. A healthy province.

What is a personal care home?

A personal care home is a place that provides an adult with accommodation, meals and supervision or assistance with personal care.

Personal care homes are not nursing homes. If a resident needs specialized care such as insulin injections and passive exercise, the operator will arrange for the task to be given by:

  • A registered professional authorized to perform the task such as a registered nurse, registered psychiatric nurse, dietician, physiotherapist, etc.
  • The personal care home staff if they can be trained by the health care professional to provide the specialized care required.
