Saskatchewan! Healthy people. A healthy province.

Saskatchewan's Pediatric Transport Service has teams located at both the Regina General Hospital and Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. The service provides pediatric tertiary care to rural and northern Saskatchewan.

The service combines the expertise of two major hospitals, road ambulance and air ambulance services, and provides information about pediatric critical care to remote communities.

The goals of the Saskatchewan Pediatric Transport Service are:

  • To consult with physicians who specialize in pediatric critical care.
  • To stabilize and transport pediatric patients in a timely, safe and efficient manner to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon or Regina General Hospital.
  • To participate in outreach education about pre-transport resuscitation and stabilization of infants and children.

What will happen:

  1. The pediatrician/pediatric specialist will triage the request and make the appropriate arrangements for transportation.
  2. The Transport Team is dispatched to your location either by road or air ambulance.
  3. The team arrives, assesses the situation, reports findings to the receiving hospital and provides the necessary treatment to stabilize the patient before transport.
  4. When the child is as stable as possible, he or she is transported to hospital.
