Integrated Clinical System LaboratoryThe laboratory collects and analyzes a large variety of specimens from patients in a region, then reports the results to clinicians, wards and other agencies. A Laboratory System is capable of receiving and recording orders; managing lab test data throughout the lab test processing cycle; and generating and distributing result reports. Throughout the region, client demographic information is received via an electronic interface from the regional CPI/Registration System. The Laboratory System is able to transmit test results using an electronic interface to other departmental systems; the regional Clinical View System; and in the future, a province-wide laboratory results repository. The Laboratory System was used by over 600 staff in six regions to more efficiently and quickly process over 670,000 lab specimens in 2006-07. In 2006-07, the Mamawetan Churchill River Health Region began planning for the implementation of the Laboratory System, which is scheduled for implementation in La Ronge in early 2007-08.
