The Saskatchewan Disease Control Laboratory provides testing services for a range of diseases and microbiological hazards.

Online forms and information for testing drinking water, surface water, groundwater and sewage water.

Vision

Leadership in provincial public health and reference laboratory service by meeting challenges and achieving excellence to enable clients and staff to enjoy a healthier tomorrow.

Each day, the Provincial Laboratory receives 2,000 to 3,000 specimens and generates approximately 6,000 results. The laboratory is the largest branch of Saskatchewan Health, with an operating budget of $8.9 million and approximately 125 staff.

Our testing services are available six days a week with call back and weekend services when required. The Provincial Laboratory offers services in:

  • Microbiology
  • Chemistry
  • Environmental sciences
  • Support services

Our main "customers" are physicians, clinics, health centres and hospitals.

We do service the public directly through the Water Laboratory. Owners or users of private water supplies (wells and dugouts) are responsible for having their water tested.
