If you were starting from scratch, how would you organize, manage and deliver health services in Saskatchewan?

That question is at the centre of many initiatives underway across the province. The goal is to explore new approaches that cut unneccessary red tape, streamline processes and result in a safer, more efficient, patient- and family-centred health system.

Health providers, policy developers, administrators and clients of the health care system all have roles to play in the discussions about ways to improve how things get done.

Saskatchewan Innovations

Lean is a patient-focused approach to identifying and eliminating all non-value-adding activities within an organization. It empowers employees to generate and implement innovative solutions to improve service, enhance staff morale and free up time for patient care.

The Surgical Initiative has a dual mission to improve surgical patients' care experience and ensure that within 4 years, no one in the province has to wait longer than 3 months for surgery.

As a result of recommendations made by the Patient First Review, Saskatchewan is launching a major initiative to redesign primary health care service delivery.

Research, findings and recommendations of the Patient First Review speak to creating a more patient- and family-centred health system and improving the performance, efficiency and cohesiveness of the organizations and individuals who make up Saskatchewan's health system.

An independent agency that measures and reports on quality of care in Saskatchewan, promotes improvement, and engages its partners in building a better health system. Research reports measure overall health care quality in Saskatchewan, with specific areas of focus.
