Saskatchewan! Healthy people. A healthy province.

Who We Are

The Health Information Solutions Centre (HISC) is the branch of Saskatchewan Health that facilitates the development, coordination and use of information and technology solutions to support continuing improvements in health care delivery in Saskatchewan.

In collaboration with Canada Health Infoway (Infoway), HISC leads the initiatives associated with the advancement of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) in Saskatchewan in collaboration with our Saskatchewan Health colleagues, the health regions and other health sector partners.

In addition to coordinating health sector information technology (IT) and information management (IM) standards and planning, HISC develops and integrates health care information systems, supports the use of information for health care planning and accountability, and manages the provincial network that securely links health regions, facilities and agencies.

HISC works closely with the ministry, health regions and other health sector partners to provide a broad range of services to ensure information technology is employed most effectively in meeting the needs of our citizens, while always safeguarding personal health information and protecting privacy.

Through the Saskatchewan Health Information Network (SHIN) service desk and data centre, HISC also provides technology support services and hosts many clinical applications that are accessed by front-line care providers across the province.

HISC leads the province-wide adoption and use of health information and technology solutions.
SHIN was created as a Treasury Board Crown Corporation in 1997.
SHIN manages the development of a province-wide health information network in Saskatchewan.
