Saskatchewan! Healthy people. A healthy province.

Telehealth Saskatchewan uses communication and information technology to support the delivery of clinical care and professional education services at a distance. Using live, two-way videoconferencing, health care providers can use Telehealth for many clinical appointments, consultations, follow-ups, meetings, and education sessions. Patients are able to visit their doctor in another community, city or province without the need to travel.

Telehealth Saskatchewan is a Saskatchewan Health program endorsed by The Action Plan for Saskatchewan Health Care as an effective means to improve access to health services by enabling health providers to consult and treat patients remotely. This technology is able to reduce the geographic and economic barriers many rural residents face when accessing health care services in urban centers.

Currently there are 26 Telehealth sites in Saskatchewan located in every provincial, regional, district and northern hospital (except Stony Rapids). There are an additional 45 sites in health care centers across the province, which are also able to connect to the Telehealth Network.

Telehealth Saskatchewan served over 22,670 people for education purposes in 2006-07, and connected almost 800 patients with health care providers in other locations.
