Ministry of Health Budget to Budget Growth - Expense Basis

This year's spending increase

Of Health's 8.7% budget growth:

  • 4.5% comes from cost growth in base programs including health sector salary increases, drug and medical cost growth and program use changes; and
  • 4.4% comes from new initiatives and program or service enhancements;
  • These increases are offset by a 0.2% reduction in program and service expenses that come from administrative efficiencies, the withdrawal of some non-core services and revised qualification criteria for other services.
