Considering a Child when HIV Positive

Some babies born to mothers with HIV may develop AIDS. Pregnancy should be discussed with your partner, your doctor and a counsellor.

While HIV-positive men have fathered children without infecting either the mother or baby, there is a serious risk of infecting both the mother and the baby. This is a very serious consideration and should be discussed with your partner, your physician and possibly your counsellor.
