All new Saskatchewan nurse graduates are guaranteed a position to work alongside experienced nurses, enabling them to transition into a permanent position. These positions are over and above those already in the system.

Goals

  • To recruit Saskatchewan nurse graduates into Saskatchewan’s health workforce.
  • To support new graduates as they transition into the workplace.
  • To provide every Saskatchewan graduate with the opportunity to obtain full time employment in Saskatchewan.
  • To retain the Saskatchewan supply of nurses by providing full time employment.

Process

  • Those who have graduated from a Saskatchewan accredited nursing program after December 1, 2007 are eligible to apply.
  • To participate, graduate nurses must register in the Saskatchewan Graduate Nurse Job Program. The registration form is available below under Related Documents. Upon completion, mail or fax to (306) 798-0023.
  • Saskatchewan Ministry of Health will provide funding to regional health authorities for graduate nurse positions.
  • For information on the regional health authorities' nursing positions and their locations, go to http://healthcareersinsask.ca or contact the human resources departments within the regional health authorities.
  • The Saskatchewan Graduate Nurse Job Program will link the new graduate with the regional health authority.
  • The graduate nurse must register with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association and/or the Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of Saskatchewan.
  • Additional orientation and transitional support into the workplace is available for new nurses who participate in a new nurse mentorship program.
