Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Awareness DayIn June 2002 the Government of Saskatchewan passed legislation declaring September 9 to be FAS Awareness Day. Saskatchewan Prevention Institute![]() The Saskatchewan Prevention Institute, a non-profit organization, co-ordinates and administers a provincial Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Prevention Program. This program is funded by the provincial ministries of Health and Social Services. Initiatives include:
Interdepartmental Committee on FASDSaskatchewan Health currently chairs the committee, which has representation from several provincial ministries. Canada Northwest Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Partnership![]() Saskatchewan participates on this partnership along with Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Nunavut Territory and Yukon Territory. Through this initiative, the provincial/territorial partners are able to learn from one another, share expertise and resources. Joint conferences and symposiums are also held.
