The Drug Plan and Extended Benefits Branch provides benefits to the eligible Saskatchewan population by promoting cost-effective drug therapy and extended benefits, subsidizing qualifying residents and supporting the use of a claims database.

The branch also:

  • leads policy development on the Drug Plan, Saskatchewan Aids to Independent Living (SAIL) and Supplementary Health and Family Health Benefits related issues
  • provides case management services in appropriate areas
  • improves program delivery and accountability to the public and the Legislature through trends analysis and annual statistical reports
  • provides funds for various initiatives that encourage appropriate use of drugs
  • uses the claims database for various studies to promote appropriate use of drugs.
