Saskatchewan! Healthy people. A healthy province.

Saskatchewan's diagnostic imaging services are going digital. Patients will have secure and convenient diagnostic imaging services, and the health system will have more efficient processes for delivering the service.

A new, secure Radiology Information System (RIS):

  • makes diagnostic images available electronically to health providers;
  • captures and reports management information; and
  • schedules patients.

The RIS works with a new Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS), which can:

  • store images digitally rather than on film; and
  • allow authorized users to access images from the central archive anywhere in the province.

Together, the two systems will save time, reduce duplication and make the system more efficient overall. They are a key part of Saskatchewan's planned Electronic Health Record.
