Diagnostic Imaging section (click for Health home page)

Diagnostic imaging services are an important part of the Saskatchewan Surgical Initiative's plan to transform the surgical patient experience and achieve shorter wait times.

These pages contain information on well-known diagnostic imaging types such as x-ray, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and computed tomography (CT, CAT scan). It also includes information on lesser known imaging types, such as nuclear medicine, bone mineral densitometry (BMD), fluoroscopy and mammography.

This link will walk you through the process of getting a medical imaging exam, from the time you first see your family doctor to the time you meet with your doctor to discuss the results.

While most questions can and should be answered by your family doctor, the contact information for some high-end imaging types (MRI, CT, BMD) is listed here to answer any specific questions that you may have that cannot be answered by your doctor.

Concerned about how long you may have to wait to get your exam? These pages will provide you with wait times for CT, MRI and BMD tests.

Details of past, current, and future projects to improve access to services.

This section provides additional resources to help you find answers to questions that could not be answered here.

The technical diagnostic imaging terms are explained here in easy to understand English.

The most frequently asked questions are listed here, along with the answers everyone has been looking for.

This section explains what each type of exam is used for, what you can expect during your exam, and common tips on how to prepare beforehand.
