All wait times are measured in days. Level 1 (emergent) cases are done within 24 hours of referral and are not included below.

Wait times as of December 31, 2011

Wait times include all inpatient and outpatient procedures for patients aged 18 and over. Follow-up procedures are not included.

Regina Qu'Appelle and Saskatoon Health Regions report CT wait times in 50th percentile (median) and 90th percentile (90% of exams completed within that number of days). All other health regions report "estimated maxiumum wait time" for CT service.

Regional hospitals continue to report estimated maximum wait times, until their data is compatible for reporting 50th and 90th percentile. Inter-regional comparisons should be made with caution until all regions are using the same reporting method.

Urgency Classifications

Saskatchewan uses urgency classifications to ensure that patients who need a CT exam receive it in a timely manner. The more urgent your exam is, the sooner you will receive it. Likewise, if your exam is considered medically non-urgent, you may wait longer depending on the number of other CT scans that are of a more urgent nature.

There are 4 urgency levels, each with a wait time target for when the  CT scan should be completed.

Level 1 - Emergent:  Targeted wait time: within 24 hours
Examples:  Strokes and unconscious patients in emergency.

Level 2 - Urgent:  Targeted wait time: 2 - 7 days
Examples:  Childhood seizures and possible organ injuries.

Level 3 - Semi-Urgent:  Targeted wait time: 8 - 30 days
Examples:  Investigation of tumors before surgery and suspected cancer growth.

Level 4 - Non-Urgent:  Targeted wait time: 30 - 90 days.
Examples:  Chronic back pain and chronic headaches.
