Integrated Clinical System CPI/Registration SystemThe Client Patient Index (CPI)/Registration System supports regional staff in uniquely identifying clients/patients as well as capturing and storing information regarding client/patient demographics and visits/encounters within a health region. The CPI/Registration System is used region wide to register clients/patients for all program areas. Client demographic information is shared electronically with other departmental systems and the Clinical View System through electronic interfaces. The CPI/Registration System was used by over 2,600 staff in nine health regions to more efficiently and quickly register and/or admit over 530,000 patient visits in 2006-07. In 2006-07, the Prince Albert / Parkland (Prince Albert) Health Region successfully migrated to the provincial solution for a CPI system and Keewatin-Yatthé (La Loche) began planning for the implementation of the CPI system. With the implementation in La Loche, scheduled for 2007-08, all health regions will have an automated CPI system. Health regions are now looking to begin implementation of the system into community hospitals located in Rosetown and Kerrobert. As interfaces to other systems in the regions are developed in the future, there will be significant reduction in the number of times that staff need to ask for and capture patient information when clients are being registered for other health services in the region. |
