Historical Data: Comma Separated Files

General Notes:
All of data is saved as comma separated text files. This format is suitable for analysts who want to import the data into a database or spreadsheet. It is not a suitable format for viewing or printing.
These are the only years of historical data available with a common methodology where Registered Indian persons are allocated their place of residence rather than First Nation of origin.
The data by single year of age is only available for 1995 onward.

Legislation creating the current RHAs, The Regional Health Services Act, was proclaimed on August 1, 2002. New RHA names took effect on November 1, 2002. The new RHAs replace the previous health districts. Comma separated tables by health district are provided here for those analysts who still require this historical information.

All of the data has been standardised to 2007 residence codes and regional health authority boundaries (plan19). This means that the distribution by (former) health district and (current) regional health authority may differ slightly from previously published figures.

Montreal Lake Cree Nation:
There are two fake residence codes for Montreal Lake Cree Nation. Montreal Lake Cree Nation has land holdings in both Prince Albert Parkland and Mamawetan Churchill River regional health authorities.
72683 represents the Montreal Lake residents who have been assigned to Prince Albert Parkland Regional Health Authority based on postal code information.
72684 represents the Montreal Lake residents who have been assigned to Mamawetan Churchill River Regional Health Authority based on postal code information.
72682 is the actual residence code for the Montreal Lake Cree Nation. The data associated with this residence code represents the Montreal Lake on reserve residents who did not have a postal code listed on the Person Registry. In the tables by health district and regional health authority these residents were assigned to either the Prince Albert (Parkland) or Mamawetan Churchill River based on the age sex distribution of the residence codes 72683 and 72684 respectively.
plan20-rha-dist.csv is a comma separated text file that can be used to determine the regional health authority (or former health district) for a particular residence code. Most residence codes only fall in one regional health authority (health district), but, some rural municipalities are split among as many as three regional health authorities (health districts). All three residence codes for Montreal Lake have been included in plan20-rha-dist.csv. 56% of 72682 has been apportioned to Prince Albert Parkland RHA and 44% to Mamawetan Churchill River RHA to correspond with the proportion of total populations of 72683 and 72684 in 2001 and 2002. This 56%/44% split will not match up exactly with the totals in these tables or the covered population books because people from residence code 72682 have been assigned according to the age-sex distributions of residence codes 72683 and 72684 rather than a simple percentage of the totals.

The covpop_plan20_regind_band_res_YYYY.csv tables contain the covered population of Registered Indian persons by their First Nation of origin and residence code.
