Seniors' Drug Plan - Apply Today
Did you know?

Your pharmacist will apply an automatic $15 per prescription limit for children 14 and under, starting July 1, 2008 (drugs in the Formulary, or with approved Exception Drug Status). Outside Saskatchewan, save your receipt and apply for reimbursement.

Changing time can become a bore, but it doesn't have to be. When your baby is in a playful mood, take a few minutes while changing and dressing him to play the following games. There is nothing your baby will appreciate more than a few minutes of special attention from his favorite playmates - Mom and Dad.

Copy cat

Copy any sounds your baby makes. Repeat any of the gurgles, coos, lip smacking or other baby noises and then wait to see if your baby will make the noise again. If he answers you back again, continue imitating him until you have a lively "conversation" going.

"I'm gonna get you!"

playing with baby

After you have changed your baby's diaper (and he is happy and comfortable) play the "get you" game. Say "I'm gonna get you! I'm gonna touch your nose. I'm gonna touch your tummy. I'm gonna get your toes." Smile as you say this and use a soft high-pitched voice. Bend your face down to where she can see you when you touch her.

"Peek"

Peek-a-boo is an all-time favorite. Initially your baby won't understand that you are hiding behind something. To baby, you have completely disappeared, so baby will be amazed when you suddenly return with your big smile.

Changing rhymes

Round and Round the Garden
Round and round the garden, goes the little bear,
(walk your fingers in a circle on baby's tummy)
One step, two step,
(walk your finger toward her chin)
Tickle you under there!
(tickle her under the chin)

The Lady Bug
The lady bug crawls up your arm,
(walk your fingers up baby's arm)
And sits upon your nose,
(rest your finger on his nose)
The lady bug slides down your tummy,
(slide your fingers down his tummy, tickling him)
And stops upon your toes.
(wiggle his toes)

Talking Tips

  • Talk to your baby about what you are doing. Tell him what is happening to him.

"Time to get up.

Baby come up.

Up!"

  • Cover a few interesting pictures with contact paper and hang them in the diapering area. Put them on the wall where baby can turn his head to see. Point to and name the things baby sees:

"That's a butterfly!"

"Pretty butterfly."
