Saskatchewan's health care system currently operates three BMD machines, with additional BMD service provided in Lloydminster by a private clinic in Alberta.

Most questions should be directed to your family physican. General questions about the health care system can be directed to each region's Quality of Care Coordinator, see Related Links below. Specific questions about your exam that cannot be answered by this website, or by each region's website, can be answered by phoning the department where you will be having your exam. BMD is a specialized X-ray test to assess mineral (calcium) content in bones, and is used primarily in the diagnosis and on-going assessment of osteoporosis.
