Bleeding Disorders Program

The Saskatchewan Bleeding Disorders Program (SBDP) provides comprehensive care to individuals and families affected by an inherited bleeding disorder, including Hemophilia and von Willebrand Disease, and those with acquired inhibitors. The SBDP strives to:
  • ensure its clients have access to appropriate and timely health care services;
  • educate, train and support clients, their families, the public, schools, employers and other health care professionals; and
  • ensure accountability for blood products used in Saskatchewan.

The program provides a team approach, offering the skills of experienced hematologists, clinical nurse coordinators, a physical therapist and a social worker. Associated services include genetic counselling, dentistry and referrals to additional specialists as required.
