Saskatchewan! Healthy people. A healthy province.

An external review of Saskatchewan's air medical services has been completed.

The review was conducted by Ornge, a non-profit organization that coordinates all aspects of Ontario's aero medical transport system. Its report was released November 26, 2009, along with a review of the province's road ambulance system.

The review examines current patterns of service provision, and issues of importance to service providers and stakeholders of air medical services in Saskatchewan.

It contains specific recommendations about the current air medical system, and provides information about the potential use of helicopters.

Alternatives to government ownership are not contained in the report, and would need to be explored before proceeding.

The Air Medical Services Review recommendations will be considered as part of the province's 2010-2011 budget process.
