300 new nurses will be coming to Saskatchewan starting in the summer of 2008, as a result of a recent recruiting trip to the Philippines.

The Acute and Emergency Services Branch works with health regions, health professionals and a variety of health stakeholder groups on the planning, implementation and ongoing monitoring of a full range of acute care and emergency services. These services include medical and surgical care, obstetrics, perinatal and pediatric care, psychiatric care and emergency services as well as other speciality and support services.Major areas of responsibility include:

  • acute care (hospitals and health centres), including specialized services such as medical imaging, integrated renal programs, cardiac catheterization and specialized respiratory services.
  • emergency health services (air and road ambulance, specialized transport services such as pediatric and neonatal).
  • cancer services
