Saskatchewan is implementing a new pathway to assess and support men in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. Urologists, other health providers and patients have been involved in develop the pathway processes, which will provide information and support to both patients and their families.

The pathway includes a standardized patient care process and development of Prostate Assessment Centres in both Regina and Saskatoon. Primary care providers will be able to refer patients directly to either centre, where Nurse Navigators will help support patients, provide information on tests and treatment options, and facilitiate patients' journey from assessment to diagnosis and treatment.

The following links provide some basic introductory information about PSA and prostate cancer. It is important to understand the risks and benefits of PSA testing. You and your doctor should discuss whether testing for prostate cancer is right for you.
